Registration Fee
You will be asked for a registration fee of £20 to cover the cost of arranging your appointments when you book your first appointment. The fee can be made using credit cards over the phone or by cash, cheque (payable to Relate) or postal order
If this amount is a problem for you, speak to one of our appointments staff about our limited bursary scheme.
Cancellation Policy
Counselling works best for clients when continuity is maintained by agreed regular meetings. Such planned meetings with clients require advance scheduling and preparation, and appointments cancelled at short notice are difficult to re-allocate to other clients. Relate Berkshire therefore has a cancellation policy, which encourages clients to attend appointments as agreed, or to give us as much notice as possible when they are unable to attend.
Cancellations cannot be accepted without prior agreement of your counsellor or a member of our appointment staff. In the event of an appointment being cancelled by the client, Relate Berkshire reserves the right to apply cancellation charges, to reclaim any costs directly or indirectly incurred. The cancellation charges will apply as follows:
- For cancellations made 6 days or more in advance of the appointment date – no cancellation charge.
- For cancellations made between 2 and 6 days in advance of the appointment date – 50% of your regular appointment contribution rate.
- For cancellations made less than 48 hours prior to the appointment date: 100% of your regular appointment contribution rate.
We collect the cancellation charge, wherever possible, by credit/debit card at the time the cancellation is notified.
Relate appointments staff will contact clients who have cancelled appointments indirectly ie; by email or by answerphone message outside of our opening times, to collect cancellation fees and rebook appointments if appropriate.
Cancellation charges can only by waived in extremely extenuating circumstances.
We will not book further appointments for clients if cancellation fees remain outstanding or are the subject of a written application for waiver as outlined above.
Contribution Policy
You will be asked for a registration fee of £20 to cover the cost of arranging your appointments. We are a charity and would really appreciate you making a contribution each time you attend for counselling/ therapy. The suggested rate is £40 or more, if you can afford it. If you are a taxpayer, we ask you to sign a Gift Aid form as this allows us to reclaim tax from the Inland Revenue.
The service you receive is not affected by how much you contribute.
