Skills/qualifications/experience:

Relate Berkshire has opportunities for trustees with experience in management, marketing, legal, HR, finance, community involvement, education, public service. Some experience of the charity and voluntary sector is important

 

Role of Trustees

Trustees hold organisational accountability for Relate Berkshire to the Charity Commission and are responsible for governing the charity and its financial viability. They set policy, assure the range, quality and standard of services and support the Chief Executive.

 

Activities

Trustees are directors of Relate Berkshire and sign up to a code of conduct and actively attend trustee meetings, usually held in the evenings, every six weeks. They act as a support and advice to the Chief Executive and join ad hoc working working parties set up from time to time.

 

Time Commitment

Telephone contact, preparing for meetings and attendance at meetings between 1 and 2 days a month

Chairman

We are searching for a new Chairman to join our Board as a Trustee prior to election as Chairman at our September AGM. The Chairman works closely with the Chief Executive to ensure the provision of high quality Relate services in Berkshire.

 

The Chairman's role is to:

 

- Maintain an overview of the Centre's affairs

- Ensure the Centre’s compliance with its governing document and the fulfilment of its charitable objects

- Ensure the provision of appropriate and accessible services within the Centre’s mission and competences to all sectors of the local community

- Ensure the Centre remains financially viable

- Ensure that the Centre maintains a consistently high reputation and public profile.
